Hello, my name is Liz, and I am an assistant manager at IHOP on colerain avenue. 8 years ago I was hired by a woman by the name of Yvonne Jackson. She has since then stepped down from being the GM at our store however still comes in as a shift lead 40 hours a week, at 76 years old, and still doing the same exact job duties. While working full-time in a restaurant she also has been caring for her 15 year old grandson, due to losing his father, her youngest son, to addiction, and caring for her sickly husband who has been battling cancer, and to top all that off last year she had back-to-back heart attacks and had to take a leave of absence from work. I am writing this today to ask any and all that are willing to help us to help this extraordinary woman in her time of need. Last Sunday her husband Gene lost his battle with cancer and passed away at home. He was surrounded by his children, Mrs Yvonne, and their grandson Logan. Although he was battling cancer his passing came as a surprise as it was due to complications from his surgery of removing the mass off of his brain. He was sent home afterwards and continued to spiral downhill until they finally placed him on hospice and sent him home. 2 days later he passed. They were able to support the finances for a funeral, however we are asking for help to support her and Logan during this difficult time, as she is going to be taking time off from work with no paid leave time.
Mrs Yvonne is an amazing woman, mother, grandmother, wife, friend, Boss, and mentor. She is taking the passing of her husband surprisingly well as she is already planning on coming back to work, however, all of us here at IHOP know that she’s only doing this due to financial difficulties, when she should be at home, and grieving with her family.
