As many of you may know, Mike has been in the hospital in Wichita, Kansas, this past week, bravely fighting for his life. Mike and Tara have shared over 30 years of connection, and in the last eight years, God brought them together to walk through life side by side. Through love, faith, and perseverance, they became the foundation of a beautiful blended family.
Their bond grew stronger over time—surrounded by children, grandchildren, parents, cousins, and dear friends. They cherished every moment together, never taking time for granted.
This past Sunday, everything changed. Tara called EMS after Mike began acting strangely. He was rushed to Hays Medical Center, where doctors discovered he had suffered a stroke caused by a brain stem bleed. He was immediately transferred to Wichita for advanced care, where he fought hard to stay with us.
Despite every effort—countless scans, MRIs, and consultations with specialists—a devastating blood clot formed after the initial bleed, and Mike’s condition worsened. After days of prayer, tears, and unimaginable heartbreak, the family was given the most difficult decision of all: to remove Mike from life support and let him pass peacefully.
Mike appeared healthy on the outside. None of us could have seen the hidden damage within. His passing reminds us all how fragile life truly is.
