Hello, my name is Lerina Leyva. I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my family as we lay to rest my uncle, Edward Roman Ortiz. My uncle leaves his 3 sisters Pamela, Peggy, Felicia. Also, His mother and father Eddie and Peggy Ortiz. Edward was a bright beautiful unique soul and spirit, very independent, and could make anyone laugh. He truly was a sight for sore eyes when you were able to track him down and spend some time with him. He was truly a joy to be around. If you knew him or got the pleasure to know him, then you know exactly what I mean.
Today, May 29, 2025, my mom, her sisters, and their mom and dad had to make the hard decision to let him go as he was unresponsive to treatments. On May 24, he suddenly collapsed and was taken to the hospital. He had a really bad infection that went to his brain, which led to him going into respiratory shock. Unfortunately, he never woke up, and from there, doctors did all they could as he simply was just not responding to treatments. They did multiple tests and were able to declare him brain dead, keeping him as comfortable as they could for us to be able to love him and say our goodbyes.
Any donations made will go towards funeral expenses and any medical costs. My family and I truly appreciate everyone. Anything helps in this time. Please help us give my sweet uncle a beautiful send-off to heaven.
