Our Beloved Catita: A Life of Love, Laughter, and Resilience.
It is with the heaviest hearts that we share the news of our beloved mother, Catita, passing away on Wednesday, June 28th, 2025, at 2:40 PM at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Catita was from Lima, Peru, where she was deeply loved by family and friends. It was there that she started her own family and had her two daughters, Mafe & Caty. Later in her life, her greatest joy and reason for moving to Houston was to be close to them, a testament to her unwavering love and dedication to family.
She was a vibrant soul who found immense happiness in the simple pleasures of life. The ocean and the beach held a special place in her heart, particularly Punta Hermosa, where she felt truly at peace. Catita also had a deep love for dogs, finding companionship and joy in their presence. She was incredibly social, lighting up every room she entered with her warmth, laughter, and genuine connections with people.
For the past five years, Catita faced an incredibly difficult battle against cancer, a fight she bravely won, demonstrating her incredible strength and resilience. Despite beating cancer, she continued to grapple with significant health challenges related to her kidneys and heart.
Her final days were a testament to her fierce will to live. On Monday night, she suffered a cardiac arrest and was gone for 27 minutes before miraculously being revived. She fought with every ounce of her being. Then, on Tuesday, she endured another cardiac arrest, and for 35 minutes, her heart stopped again before doctors were able to bring her back. Through it all, her fighting spirit shone brightly. Ultimately, after exhausting all options, her body could no longer continue, and she found her peace on Wednesday afternoon.
Our mom was a true warrior, a beacon of strength, and a source of endless love and joy for everyone who knew her. As we prepare to say our final goodbyes at her funeral this Saturday, we are faced with the unexpected and overwhelming costs associated with these services.
We are humbly asking for your support to help us honor Catita with the beautiful and dignified farewell she deserves. Any donation, no matter the size, will help ease this financial burden for our family during this incredibly difficult time. Your love, prayers, and generosity mean the world to us.
Thank you for being a part of Catita’s life and for helping us celebrate her remarkable spirit.
