With shattered hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of Shatoya Toson (Black Rose)—a radiant, loving, and deeply cherished young woman whose life ended far too soon. Shatoya was a young mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. She was a soul who carried both pain and promise, who gave all the love she had to those around her—especially her five beautiful children.
She leaves behind the lights of her life:
Angel (21) – her firstborn and source of strength, now stepping into an unthinkable role with grace,
Zaleia (10) – bright, creative, and endlessly curious,
Te’leya (7) – her gentle, smiling shadow,
Ty’Jean (15) – growing into a young man Shatoya was so proud of,
Halo (5 months) – still fresh from heaven, now missing the arms of the one who loved him.
Shatoya was also a loving sister, someone who held her family close and showed up for the people she loved. Her siblings are grieving not just a sister, but a friend, a confidant, and a piece of their hearts.
Though her journey was marked by struggle, her story is one of love. She fought hard to be present for her kids. She laughed, she dreamed, she showed up with everything she had. And now, we are left to say goodbye far too soon.
We are asking for help to honor Shatoya with the dignity and care she deserves—and to surround her children with the love and support they so desperately need.
Your donations will help cover:
Funeral and expenses
A memorial service that reflects Shatoya’s life and spirit
Immediate and ongoing support for her five children during this painful time
No gift is too small. Every share, every prayer, every dollar helps bring peace to a grieving family and reminds these children that their mother’s life—and their future—still matters.
Let us lift her name in kindness and wrap her children in the community she would have wanted for them.
With deepest gratitude,
Sherell
