It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of my beloved father, Herschel Augustus Chapman, who departed this life on May 30, 2025 at the age of 65, after a courageous battle with stage four brain cancer.
Born on February 2, 1960 in Killeen, Texas to Augustus Chapman and Georgia Chapman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus (2003) and Georgia Chapman (2008), and his beloved wife of 15 years, Mary Waughtel Chapman (2011).
Dad was known for his love of hunting, fishing, dedication and deep love for his family.
Dad dedicated 13 years’ operating his valued pest control company, Elite Pest Control. He was respected not only for his skill but for his kindness, integrity, and genuine relationships he built with his customers. Dad will always be grateful and appreciative toward his customers for their support, loyalty, and commitment to his business.
Outside of work, he found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, boating, and anything that included being outdoors. However, his greatest pride was his family and grandchildren.
Though his diagnosis brought great challenges, Dad met each day with remarkable resilience and hope. His bravery and positivity in the face of illness were an inspiration to all who walked beside him during his journey.
He is survived by his three daughters, Rio Marquez, Rachel Chapman, Rilee Chapman, and his grandchildren Maceo, Nando, Linnea, Koen, and another granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Beverly Swift, James Chapman, Cynthia Austin, and several nieces and nephews.
His legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He lived his life with grace, determination, and an unshakable spirit that touched everyone who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, the light Herschel Chapman brought into this world will never dim.
