In Loving Memory of Joseph Paul Mogan
1957 – 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved uncle, Joseph Paul Mogan—known to most of us simply as Uncle Joe. He left us unexpectedly just a couple of weeks ago near his home in Chula Vista, California. He was 67 years old.
Joe was born in San Francisco in 1957 and, true to the spirit of that city, he marched to the beat of his own drum. He was unique—sometimes awkward in the most genuine and endearing way—and had a heart that was bigger than words can describe. He was incredibly intelligent, especially when it came to numbers. A gifted engineer, Joe could make sense of the complex, even when the rest of us were scratching our heads.
Joe was generous to a fault. He gave without expectation, helped without hesitation, and loved deeply, even if he didn’t always know how to say it. His kindness showed up in quiet ways that stuck with you.
He is survived by his brother Pat, sister Elaine, nieces Brianna, Brigitte, and Valerie, and nephews Erik and Brian—each of whom carries a piece of Joe in their hearts.
As we work to honor his memory and bring him home to rest, we’re faced with some immediate challenges. We need help with travel expenses, relocating his belongings from Chula Vista to our family in the Northwest, and covering the cost of his funeral and burial.
We’ve started a fundraiser campaign to ask for support from those who knew and loved Joe, or who understand the difficulty of losing someone suddenly. Every donation will go directly toward giving Uncle Joe the farewell he deserves.
Thank you for keeping Uncle Joe in your thoughts, for your generosity, and for helping us through this incredibly difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
—The Family of Joseph Mogan
