This past week, something unfortunate happened that left me, as well as loved ones, in total disbelief. Due to injury complications and medical malpractice, Nancy Nino, my aunt, was pronounced dead as of May 28th. Sometime last week, Nancy had fallen down her staircase at home, leading to a skull fracture. Pronounced dead at the scene, paramedics resuscitated Nancy before transporting her to the hospital. The head injury resulted in more than 10 staples in her head. Only 3-4 days later, she was discharged from Christiana Hospital, only to return the following day for oxygen deprivation and brain swelling. Arriving back at Christiana Hospital, the nurse/doctor on shift attempted to administer an IV through her torso but missed the vein entirely, hitting an artery instead. Immediate complications arose as they were now required to perform open chest surgery. Attempting to correct their mistake, the surgery was a success, only to be told she is now brain dead. We were then forced to decide as a family that this was no way for anyone to live, and chose to take her off of life support within the next couple of days. So, we all paid our respects and said our goodbyes.
We as a family don’t have the funds to celebrate Nancy’s life with a funeral, and so I turn to everyone… and I ask that if you can help in any way possible, our family will be extremely grateful. R.I.P. Nancy Nino. We know you’ll be resting easy
