On Friday, May 23rd, I went to check on one of my favorite humans on this planet, Kyle Norman. When I entered his home, I was met with the absolutely tragic loss of him. He was surrounded by all of his animals—Charles, Princess, Amber, and BGs.
We have an amazing family adopting Charles the dog, but he needs to be neutered ASAP, as this is a condition of the adoption. I have decided to adopt the three cats. These cats have lived indoor/outdoor their entire lives. In an attempt to make their transition as smooth as possible, while still keeping their safety a priority, we have found the best solution to be a catio connected to a part of the house separate from the rest. I have many dogs that aren’t assimilated with cats, so this seems to be the best option so that they get to enjoy the outdoors and continue to have a full life even after losing their daddy.
Charles has never been to the vet. This is a comprehensive list of what is needed and the cost according to VCA Yucca Valley:
$100 – Wellness exam
$41.65 – Required vaccine
$41.65 – Required vaccine
$412.70 – Neutering + take-home meds
$596 total
For the catio, I was able to source materials and compare it with a prefabricated one from Home Depot. The prefabbed structure came out to only $50 more. Considering the manpower needed to build one, we’ve decided the prefab is the way to go.
This costs $335 after tax.
