Hello everyone, my name is Alicia Reynoso, and I had the pleasure of being Christina Estrada’s, also known to many of you as Christina Torrez’s, oldest daughter. My mother was born and raised in Fall River Mills. My mom was friends with everyone; she cared about people and could start a conversation with anyone. She attended Fall River Jr. Sr. High School and graduated in 1995.
My mother had six children: myself, Joseph, Lupe, Dolores, Rolando, and Ciclaly. My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer about three years ago, and after completing chemo and radiation, she was declared cancer-free. However, this last fall, she was diagnosed with colon cancer again; this time, it came back with a vengeance. The doctors told my mom she would have to continue to do radiation and chemo for the rest of her life. She was fine with that as long as it meant more time with her kids, which is all that mattered to her.
My mom’s faith in the Lord carried her through this extremely difficult time. Her bold faith not only comforted her but also those around her. On May 5th, the doctors gave us news that no one was prepared for; they let her know that she only had weeks to months to live. This was a complete shock to her and the whole family. Sadly, we only had a couple more weeks with her. She passed on the twenty-fifth of May at forty-eight years old in the comfort of her home, surrounded by those who loved her most. As much as we wanted to have more time with her, God had other plans.
