In memory of Michael A. Leon, who passed away on May 30, 2024, we are creating spaces where his family and friends can come together to honor his life.
We plan to dedicate a bench at Orchard Beach (Bronx, NY), near the section of beach he loved, where he spent many summers dancing, playing, and enjoying salsa. The bench will bear a plaque with his name.
Additionally, we hope to dedicate a tree in Florida, where so many of his loved ones now reside. This tree will also include a memorial plaque honoring his memory.
We know that Mike meant a lot to many people. During his life, he made friends from Chicago to Cayey, the Bronx and El Barrio to Florida. His love of life was both disarming and infectious. Despite his middle name, he was no angel; but even with all of life’s challenges, his light shined bright.
We’re asking friends and family to help cover the cost of the dedication plaques so we can all have a place to sit and remember his light…before we get back to dancing. Wepa!
